To our delight, staff discovered a new male baby in the arms of adult female Lek on 6th October 2008. He appears to be approximately three weeks old. This is Lek’s second baby with adult male Bank. Their first baby Kopi was born in November 2007, however sadly died shortly after birth. Lek’s other children Arun and Dao were born to father Bo, who is now currently housed at the Rehabilitation site. The new baby has been named “Redy” by staff. Staff observed Redy three times in Arun group’s territory during the first week of October 2008, and will be checking his progress every two days during trips into the forest. He appears to be healthy and alert and we are hopeful that Lek and Bank’s baby will continue to do well.
